Pratt Naval Architecture was approached to design a vessel capable of transporting children including those disabled and using wheelchairs to parts of the UK inland waterway network not otherwise accessible to engage with nature and the environment.

The clients specified that the project was to be based on an existing traditional vessel to preserve part of the UK’s marine heritage.

Pratt Naval Architecture examined alternative vessels, following which a condition survey of the favoured vessel was undertaken and laser-scanned since no drawings were available.

A design which met the client’s specific requirements and preserved key features of the existing vessel was developed, including conversion from diesel to electric propulsion.
